Aug 19–20, 2026: Castelion $1B Series C at $13B ($800M equity + $250M revolver), Rivian spinout ALSO $150M Series D, Thunder Compute $13M (YC), plus Navi, Rundoo, Network Bio, Relativity Networks, and Peeko. Centralize’s $19M is July 29, not new August tape.

August 19–20, 2026 is the physical-production tape the mid-month AI mega-rounds crowded out. Castelion printed $13B. ALSO added $150M. Y Combinator showed up on Thunder Compute. For the month map, use August 2026 VC news. Last verified August 20, 2026.

Amounts from company posts or named press. Navi’s ~$1.3B mark is people-familiar (TechCrunch), not a company number.

Theme 1 — Factories got the largest checks

Castelion is the day’s dominant print: $13 billion, August 19, $800 million equity plus a $250 million revolver. Google still ranks the $350 million Series B. Live mark is the C. Entity was stuck on Series B in our directory — now updated.

Same Southern California munitions week: Neros $2.5B (Aug 11), Heaviside $600M (Aug 12). Do not mash those marks.

ALSO is the mobility twin: $150 million D, Prysm, no valuation, launch-edition bikes only now shipping. Not ALSO Holding AG (SIX: ALSN).

Theme 2 — YC and GPU efficiency, not another training cluster

Thunder Compute posted $13 million Series A on August 19 (company). Matrix Partners led (also led seed). YC and CEAS participated. Company: virtualize GPUs as network resources; cites Cast AI’s ~5% average GPU utilization; 10,000+ users on its self-serve cloud; $200 billion idle-capacity language is company framing, not a measured TAM we audited.

This sits next to Groq’s Aug 17 neocloud print — different product (virtualization software vs megawatts). $13 million does not need a standalone memo; branded search is the product, not the round.

Smaller verified items

Navi — Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal’s Bengaluru fintech took $100 million from Prosus, first institutional money in eight years (TechCrunch). Subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Valuation about $1.3 billion per people familiar; Bansal did not confirm. IPO talk is separate (₹30 billion / ~$314 million reported).

Network Bio — Palo Alto launch with $50 million (Section 32, Thiel Bio, Founders Fund, Breyer Capital, Blue Venture Fund, JSL Health Capital) and a >$30 million co-development with an unnamed Fortune 100 / top-10 healthcare company (Business Wire via Yahoo). “World’s largest patient tissue training dataset” is company language. Stage label not a classic series letter.

Rundoo$30 million Series B, Battery lead (Michael Brown joining the board), Bessemer and CRV returning. Total $48 million. 500+ independent supply stores (company). Redwood City engineering / Chicago GTM.

Relativity Networks$22 million in SAFE notes plus a $40 million follow-on order from an unnamed hyperscaler (TechCrunch). Adjacent to our Point2 RF interconnect tape — different physics (fiber vs RF).

Peeko₹67.4 crore Series A, Chiratae lead, Stellaris returning (Hindu Business Line, Aug 20). Bengaluru babycare. Seed was $3.2M (2025, Stellaris). India retail, not a U.S. mega-round.

Groww / YC secondary — Indian press (Inc42 via The Founder Nation) says YC sold more Groww parent shares in a bulk deal. Treat as secondary liquidity, not a new Groww primary round. We do not have a YC announcement.

Do not add as August 19–20 news

  • Centralize $19M — Business Wire July 29, 2026. Dealroom indexed it August 19. Same scrape-date trap as Checkout.com rows. NEA and YC are on that round; it is not this week’s tape.
  • Stale last-rounds on aggregator sheets (Checkout.com 2022, Stability 2022, Better.com 2021).
  • Temporal $12B and EliseAI $3.7B remain talks.

Where to go next

Diligence memos: Castelion $13B, ALSO $150M. Next 48 hours: Aug 21–25 tape. Prior week: Aug 14–19 tape. YC applications: Fall 2026 guide. Directory: /directory.
