Aug 6–7 VC News: Hadrian Factories, Moove Robotaxis, Agent Infra & Biotech

Grouped deep dives from the Aug 5–6 funding sprint: Hadrian’s $1.37B defense factories, Moove’s $250M robotaxi ops, Naïve and Gravity on the agent/ad stack, Malachyte commerce AI, and LifeMine’s transplant Series E.

Early August 2026 kept rewarding companies that sit between software and the physical (or operational) world. Defense factories and robotaxi fleets took the megachecks; agent infrastructure and AI ads took the Series A bandwidth; biotech still cleared nine-figure clinical rounds when the asset was clear.

This page is the index. Each deal has a full explainer: who uses the product, why now, why that capital, and portfolio fit.

Theme 1 — Manufacture and move atoms

Hadrian is not selling a new weapon. It sells factory throughput for parts primes already need — and the market repriced that from ~$1.6B (Jan 2026) to nearly $8B. Moove answers the neglected robotaxi question: who owns the metal, the depot, and the cleaning SLA when Waymo (and peers) would rather ship software.

Theme 2 — Make agents and AI surfaces pay

Naïve packages company ops (incorporation, cards, email, phone) behind agent APIs — then pivots hard into inference cost. Gravity builds the ad exchange for chatbots and tests catalogs that shopping agents consume. Malachyte fixes the storefront cold start so paid traffic does not land on a generic homepage.

Theme 3 — Biotech still clears when the asset is sharp

LifeMine’s $188M Series E (with Bezos Expeditions, Gates Frontier, RA Capital, and continuing ARCH) funds clinical expansion of LIFE-001 — a novel transplant immunosuppressant path, not a vague “AI drug discovery” slogan.

Also noted (not full explainers yet)

These cleared the same news cycle; we flag them for coverage gaps rather than thin stubs:

  • Expedition Therapeutics — $115M Series B (General Atlantic–led) for COPD/cardio-adjacent DPP1 program.
  • Omilia — $67M Series B for multilingual voice support agents (~$60M ARR claim in press).
  • QuantHealth — $45M Series B (Qumra-led) for AI clinical-trial simulation.
  • Acrab — $130M Series B (Vertex SEA & India / Vertex Growth) for agentic AI compute (Singapore).

How to use this page

  • Founders: Match your bottleneck to the row above — factories, fleets, agent cost, chatbot inventory, storefront RPV, or clinical asset clarity.
  • Investors / scouts: Start with the Hadrian and Moove megadeals for physical automation, then the Series A pair (Naïve / Gravity) for agent economics.
  • Next: open any explainer for competitive maps, when-not-to lists, and sourced facts.
