Denver & Boulder VC Firms 2026: How Colorado Founders Shortlist Investors We Cover

As of July 2026 our directory has no Denver/Boulder-HQ fund pages. Here is the honest shortlist path: national funds by stage and thesis, plus the one evidenced Colorado deal we track (a16z × Feedplan).

Short answer (as of July 2026): Venture Capital Tracker does not have Denver- or Boulder-headquartered VC firm pages in /directory. Colorado founders still get a useful job done here: shortlist national funds we do cover by stage and thesis, then chase warm intros. The only evidenced Colorado deal in our startup graph is Andreessen HorowitzFeedplan (Denver, a16z TxO Fall 2024). We do not invent local fund IDs, and we do not name Founders Fund or Lux Capital as Colorado check-writers unless a startup we cover links them.

What “Denver/Boulder VC” means in our data

Claim people wantWhat our directory supports today
Local HQ fund list (Denver/Boulder offices)Empty — zero fund JSON with Colorado location
National funds that backed a Colorado company we coverOne evidenced link: a16z × Feedplan
Useful national shortlist by Front Range thesis (climate, marketplace, deep tech)Yes — stage/sector tags on real /fund/ pages
Named local firms (Foundry, Access VP, etc.)Coverage gaps — prose only, no fake /fund/ URLs

If you searched “VC firms in Denver” expecting a ranked local AUM table, stop here and use the shortlist workflow below instead. Padding with invented Rockies fund pages would violate how this site works.

Evidenced Colorado deal participants (startups we cover)

Only one company in our startup JSON carries an HQ of Denver/Boulder/Colorado: Feedplan.

Andreessen HorowitzInvestor on FeedplanFeedplan (Denver)Pre-seed / TxO cohorta16z Talent x Opportunity Fall 2024; marketplace + consumer
Founders FundNone linked from Colorado HQ startups we coverProfile exists for national deep-tech/defense shortlists; not a Colorado deal participant in our graph
Lux CapitalNone linked from Colorado HQ startups we coverProfile exists for frontier/deep-tech shortlists; not a Colorado deal participant in our graph

That distinction matters: a fund page in the directory ≠ a Colorado check we can prove from investors[] on a Colorado HQ startup.

National funds Colorado founders should shortlist (by thesis)

These firms are real directory entries. Use them as a sector/stage shortlist, not as “Denver VCs.” Approximate check context is not published at firm level unless our fund JSON says otherwise — ask partners.

Colorado sector lens (editorial, not a deal count): Front Range founders commonly pitch climate/energy software, aerospace & dual-use, outdoor/consumer brands, B2B SaaS for mid-market and energy verticals, and fintech. Match the row above to your wedge before you chase logos.

How founders should use this list (JTBD)

  1. Accept the coverage gap. There is no local HQ table to download. Local angels, accelerators, and legacy Colorado funds exist in the market — they are not in our fund JSON yet.
  2. Start in /directory. Filter by the stage you are raising and the sector tags closest to your product.
  3. Open 8–12 fund profiles. Read lead vs follow (roundsTheyLead / roundsTheyInvest), sectors, and FAQs. Do not email every multi-stage firm the same deck.
  4. Separate evidenced Colorado capital from thesis shortlists. a16z is on the cap table path for Feedplan in our data; Khosla/Lux/Founders Fund rows above are fit candidates, not proven Front Range check-writers in this dataset.
  5. Cross-check startups we cover. If we expand Colorado HQ profiles, investor links will show up on the startups hub first.
  6. Build a parallel local process offline. Denver Startup Week, CU/Boulder networks, and Rockies-focused clubs still matter for intros — we just will not fake /fund/ pages for them.

Coverage gaps (honest)

We are expanding Colorado fund coverage. Named gaps worth researching externally (no /fund/ link until we ship verified JSON):

GapWhy it mattersPriority
Foundry Group (historic Boulder/Denver footprint)Long-running Front Range brand; founders still askHigh
Access Venture Partners / other Rockies seed fundsLocal seed checks and board proximityHigh
Techstars Boulder / Boulder-native acceleratorsPre-seed pipeline and mentor densityMedium
Sector specialists with Colorado offices not yet in directoryClimate, outdoor, GovTech operators need local partnersMedium
Firm-level Colorado deal counts 2024–2026We do not publish a fake “most active Denver VC” ranking from missing geo tags

Until those IDs exist, a “top Denver VC firms by AUM” article from this site would be slop. This page is the anti-slop version: national funds + one evidenced deal + a clear gap list.

What changed recently (in our coverage)

  • 2024–2026 startup graph: Feedplan added/updated with Denver HQ and a16z TxO linkage (see a16z hot portfolio hub for broader a16z context — Feedplan is early-stage TxO, not a mega-round headline).
  • Fund geo: Still no Colorado location fields among the 100+ funds in directory as of this writing.
  • No tracked Front Range mega-round scoreboard in our posts yet — do not invent one.
