Overview
Taiyi Quantum, also rendered Taiyi Liangsheng, is a Shanghai quantum-computing company founded in January 2026 by technology investor Fang Zhenghao and former Microsoft Azure Quantum researcher Liu Hongbin. It is developing a full-stack fault-tolerant quantum system based on ytterbium neutral atoms.
Why Taiyi Quantum is interesting
Taiyi accumulated more than RMB1 billion of financing within eight months, illustrating how quickly Chinese state, industrial and specialist capital is concentrating behind neutral-atom quantum computing.
Product & use cases
Taiyi is building an ytterbium neutral-atom quantum platform spanning atom control, vacuum and optical systems, real-time control, error correction and software. The company says it integrated a prototype in six months and open-sourced its Luoshu quantum compiler.
- Fault-tolerant neutral-atom quantum computing.
- Quantum simulation for materials, chemistry and pharmaceuticals.
- Optimization research across energy, finance and industrial systems.
Key facts
- Completed an amount-undisclosed round in October 2026, taking cumulative financing above RMB1 billion.
- Raised RMB300 million in a Pre-A round in July 2026 after an earlier RMB100 million angel round.
- Claims prototype integration within six months and real-time atom-rearrangement feedback latency below 10 microseconds.

Edge: Neutral atoms offer a potential route to large and flexible qubit arrays without cryogenic operation. Taiyi is attempting to integrate physics, controls, error correction and software rather than selling an isolated component.
Taiyi competes with Chinese neutral-atom startups and international developers including QuEra, Pasqal and Atom Computing. Fundraising speed does not establish logical-qubit performance; useful fault tolerance requires error rates, fidelity, uptime and scalable correction that the company has not publicly quantified.
