TAR’s $120M Series A Is ~$1B — Spark Leads; No Named Offtaker

Bloomberg said TAR raised $120 million Series A led by Spark Capital at about $1 billion on September 10, 2026. That is roughly 2× the $500 million seed mark Soenke told Business Insider in June. The Series A print did not name a customer or print revenue. June’s 20 MW neocloud delivery was a deadline, not a confirmation.

TAR’s $120M Series A Is ~$1B — Spark Leads; No Named Offtaker

TAR raised $120 million Series A on September 10, 2026. Spark Capital led. Bloomberg, citing a company statement, printed a valuation of about $1 billion. Buckley Ventures and Align Fund — existing holders — participated. Last verified September 11, 2026.

The missing number is the offtaker. Three months earlier, co-founder Pat Becker told Forbes TAR was delivering about 20 MW of constant capacity to an unnamed large neocloud within three months. The Series A coverage does not say that hall is live.

What happened$120M Series A. Spark led. About $1B (Bloomberg). Austin.
vs seedForbes $27M (Jun 15). Business Insider: Soenke said $500M seed mark, undisclosed strategic.
Revenue / customersNot in the Series A print. 20 MW remains a June claim.
vs CrusoeCrusoe sells GPU hours and campuses. TAR sells time-to-power. Do not stack ~$1B against Crusoe’s reported ~$30B.
SparkAnthropic investor. Co-led Stoke Space’s ~$1B Series E the same week. Not a TAR offtake.

Investigate further when: you can diligence delivered megawatts, interconnection-queue displacement, and who pays the PPA.

Wait or pass when: you need named customers, current MW in operation, or company ARR.

Two software founders — Becker and Leonhard Soenke, previously Meeter and Throne — are now selling turbines, batteries, and construction calendars. That career jump is the story only if the 20 MW showed up.

What TAR actually sells

Behind-the-meter systems: solar, wind, batteries, and simple-cycle gas turbines for long renewable droughts. Becker told Forbes the pitch is not cheaper than the grid. It is faster — skip the interconnection queue.

June company claims, still unverified in the Series A print:

  • 10 MW continuous pilot on TAR-owned land
  • ~20 MW first customer, unnamed neocloud, three-month delivery
  • More than 200 MW of constant load in 2027 and several gigawatts in 2028 — pipeline, not operating assets

Nscale is shopping ~$3.5 billion of pre-IPO compute paper. Base Power is an Austin residential VPP. Neither is a substitute for a named TAR offtaker.

What remains undisclosed

ARR. Named customer. Whether the 20 MW is running. Spark cheque size. Exact post-money. Seed lead name. Gas-turbine and transformer procurement. Do not add the seed and Series A into a “$147 million traction” headline; that is capital in, not power out.
