Nauta Tech Invest IV stages, portfolio and investment profile

Nauta Tech Invest IV launched with a roughly €60M first close announced September 2015 and reached €155M in total commitments by its April 2017 final close. The manager also reported the final total as $170M. Nauta describes this as the 2016 vintage; that label is not a second fund. It had backed eight companies by close, spanning European and US capital-efficient B2B software.

Inside Nauta Tech Invest IV's investment strategy

Independent, source-backed analysis of who the firm backs, deal evidence and whether it fits your stage. Research checked 7 Nov 2026.

Funding chronology — first versus final close

Nauta Tech Invest IV is the fourth legally numbered vehicle. The British Business Bank's September 16, 2015 announcement confirmed the first close and used the contemporaneous equivalent $70M; Spanish reporting described that same first close as €60M. Both refer to the same initial fund milestone, not two separate commitments.

Nauta's April 20, 2017 announcement reported a $170M final close for its 2016 vintage fund, after the initial 2015 close. The fund-structuring law firm's account identifies the actual named vehicle and €155M commitments. These EUR/USD headlines are the same fund, not two funds or additional rounds. The 2017 final amount includes the 2015 first close; summing them would double-count. Although a 2016 vintage is used in manager material, the first close was announced in 2015.

Mandate and investment history

Nauta pursued capital-efficient B2B software, digital media and enabling internet/mobile technology across Western Europe and the US. By the April 2017 close, the manager named eight investments: CloudIQ, BeMyEye, ChannelSight, Nextail, Geoblink, Lodgify, Content Raven and Connected2Fiber. The ambition to reach around 25 portfolio companies is a plan, not proof of 25 completed investments.

A founder's route to the fund (illustrative)

  1. Build a working B2B software product for a clearly demonstrated customer need and document customer adoption rather than just a market-size slide.
  2. Explain how the business can scale with disciplined capital use; Nauta's stated approach at the time stressed capital efficiency rather than financing growth for its own sake.
  3. Present unit economics and the initial Series A investment need to the team operating in the relevant market.
  4. If the firm invests, determine governance, milestones and follow-on reserve requirements through actual signed terms—not a presumed standardized fund contract.

This describes the historic investment process, not hands-on testing or a current open subscription offer. LP eligibility, fund fee/carry terms, investment returns, and individual LP commitment sizes are not supplied by the cited releases. See Nauta Capital, Fund V, and Fund VI.
