# What Is an LP Allocator? How Capital Gets to Venture Funds

An **LP allocator** is the person or team that decides **how much capital** goes into venture (and other alternatives) and **which managers** receive it. The institution is the [LP](/what-is-an-lp-limited-partner-vc-funds); the allocator is who a GP actually meets.

## LP vs allocator (what differs)
