# Miami VC Firms 2026: LatAm Gateway Investors We Cover

> Miami and LatAm-gateway venture firms founders should shortlist in 2026 — ANIMO, Boldstart’s Miami presence, Founders Fund, Tiger, and a16z — with honest HQ labels and fund profile links.

**Short answer (as of July 2026):** For Miami’s LatAm-gateway investor map, start with firms we actually cover: **[ANIMO Ventures](/fund/animo-ventures)** (NY listed; partners in NY and Miami; U.S. seed), **[Boldstart Ventures](/fund/boldstart-ventures)** (NYC HQ; Miami presence noted in firm coverage), **[Founders Fund](/fund/founders-fund)** (Miami office, not Miami HQ), **[Tiger Global Management](/fund/tiger-global-management)** (NYC HQ; LatAm + South Florida deal history), and **[Andreessen Horowitz](/fund/andreessen-horowitz)** (Menlo Park HQ; active LatAm fintech/crypto investor). SoftBank is frequently named in Miami media but **missing from our fund directory** — skip the fake link.

Sister list of companies: [Miami & Florida startups we cover (2026)](/miami-florida-startups-we-cover-2026). Ecosystem snapshot: [Venture Week Miami 2026](/2026-miami-venture-week-latam-gateway). Full browse: [/directory](/directory).

### Scope: what “Miami VC” means here

**Includes:** Funds in our directory with a documented Miami office, dual NY/Miami partner presence, or a clear LatAm-gateway thesis that founders raising in South Florida actually encounter.

**Excludes:** Invented SoftBank `/fund/` links; local angels and funds without a VCT profile (named in prose only); AUM/DPI/IRR claims we cannot source.

**Method:** Stage and thesis from fund JSON + prior VCT coverage. HQ labels are honest — office ≠ headquarters.

### Miami / LatAm-gateway firms we cover

| Firm | Location label | Stage | Thesis | Honest Miami / LatAm note | Profile |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| [ANIMO Ventures](/fund/animo-ventures) | New York, NY (listed) | Pre-seed – Seed (leads); Series A participate | Developer tools, productivity, marketplaces | Partners in **New York and Miami**; U.S. companies only; $500K–$2.5M checks | [/fund/animo-ventures](/fund/animo-ventures) |
| [Boldstart Ventures](/fund/boldstart-ventures) | New York, NY HQ | Pre-seed – Seed (day-one lead) | Enterprise / dev tools / “autonomous enterprise” | NYC HQ; **Miami presence** noted in 2025 firm FAQ/coverage — dual-city, not Miami HQ | [/fund/boldstart-ventures](/fund/boldstart-ventures) |
| [Founders Fund](/fund/founders-fund) | SF / NY roots; Miami office | Seed – growth (leads A+) | Deep tech, AI, defense, ambitious software | **Miami office (2022)**; co-led Miami’s Lula Series A; LatAm exposure (e.g. historic Nubank) — not a Miami-HQ firm | [/fund/founders-fund](/fund/founders-fund) |
| [Tiger Global Management](/fund/tiger-global-management) | New York, NY | Series A participate; Series B+ lead | High-growth internet, software, fintech | NYC crossover; **LatAm growth history** (e.g. Rappi, Nubank era) + South Florida partner activity in 2021–22 — treat as national/global, not local seed | [/fund/tiger-global-management](/fund/tiger-global-management) |
| [Andreessen Horowitz](/fund/andreessen-horowitz) | Menlo Park, CA | Multi-stage (seed – growth) | Fintech, crypto, AI, enterprise | **LatAm-active** via portfolio (Jeeves, Datanomik, Vaas, Meta4 anchor, etc.); offices include NYC/DC — **no Miami HQ** in our profile | [/fund/andreessen-horowitz](/fund/andreessen-horowitz) |

**SoftBank:** Miami Initiative and SoftBank LatAm Fund are real market names in South Florida press. We **do not** have a SoftBank fund profile in our directory yet — no entity page to link.

### How to read the Miami gateway thesis

[Venture Week Miami 2026](/2026-miami-venture-week-latam-gateway) framed South Florida as a maturing market — roughly **$2.02B across 161 deals** in early 2026 — with **fintech, AI, and cross-border LatAm SaaS** as the differentiated themes (not 2021 crypto tourism).

That thesis splits capital into three layers founders confuse at their peril:

1. **Local early deployers** — TheVentureCity, Ocean Azul Partners, Fuel Venture Capital, Miami Angels (named in Venture Week coverage; **no VCT fund profiles yet**). These are who actually price many Miami seeds.
2. **Dual-presence U.S. seed** — [ANIMO](/fund/animo-ventures) and [Boldstart](/fund/boldstart-ventures). Pitch when you are a U.S. technical or marketplace company with a clear seed narrative; do not sell them a pure LatAm-domiciled story ANIMO will not underwrite.
3. **National platforms with Miami/LatAm gravity** — [Founders Fund](/fund/founders-fund) (office + selective Miami deals), [Tiger](/fund/tiger-global-management) (growth/crossover), [a16z](/fund/andreessen-horowitz) (LatAm portfolio depth). Useful later or on thesis fits — not a substitute for a local seed lead.

### Firm-by-firm founder notes

**[ANIMO Ventures](/fund/animo-ventures)** — Directory location is **New York, NY**. The firm’s published FAQ (on the fund page) states partners are based in New York and Miami and that the mandate is **U.S. companies only**, typically **$500K–$2.5M** at pre-seed/seed with Fund II referenced as the active vehicle. Portfolio names in our directory include [Zócalo Health](/startup/zocalo-health), [Atarraya](/startup/atarraya), and [Codi](/startup/codi). LatAm heritage of the partnership matters for pattern recognition; it is not a LatAm-domicile fund.

**[Boldstart Ventures](/fund/boldstart-ventures)** — Classic NYC “day one” enterprise/dev-tools seed shop (Fund VII **$250M**, July 2025; firm-stated **$500K–$15M** inception checks). Our fund FAQ notes a **Miami presence** alongside the 40 W 27th St NYC HQ. Use Boldstart when you are a technical founder building for enterprise buyers — not because you need a LatAm bridge.

**[Founders Fund](/fund/founders-fund)** — Multi-office frontier firm (**$3B+** AUM in our directory). The Miami office (commonly dated to 2022; Keith Rabois–associated coverage) and the co-led **Lula** Series A in Miami are the clearest local signals. LatAm exposure exists at portfolio level (e.g. historic Nubank), but the firm is **not** a Miami-headquartered LatAm specialist. Pitch ambitious technical companies; do not expect a SoftBank-style LatAm growth program.

**[Tiger Global Management](/fund/tiger-global-management)** — NYC-HQ crossover (~**$60B** global AUM in our NYC coverage). Relevant to Miami/LatAm as a **growth** buyer of high-velocity internet and fintech — including historic LatAm category leaders and a period of South Florida dealmaking — not as a seed lead for a first Florida round.

**[Andreessen Horowitz](/fund/andreessen-horowitz)** — Menlo Park multi-stage platform (**$35B+** AUM in our directory). For the Miami gateway story, a16z matters through **LatAm and Miami-adjacent portfolio companies** we cover ([Jeeves](/startup/jeeves), [Datanomik](/startup/datanomik), [Vaas](/startup/vaas), Miami-based [Meta4 Capital](/startup/meta4-capital) as an anchored NFT fund — fund-like, not a classic startup). Offices listed in our East Coast map are NYC and DC; do not claim a Miami a16z HQ.

### How founders should use this list

1. **Match stage before city brand.** Tiger and late a16z growth partners are the wrong first meeting for a $2M seed.
2. **Separate HQ, office, and thesis.** ANIMO and Boldstart are NY-rooted with Miami presence; Founders Fund has a Miami office; a16z is LatAm-active without being a Miami firm.
3. **Bake LatAm GTM into the pitch only when true.** Venture Week’s takeaway still holds: Miami’s edge is cross-border access — not a generic “vibrant ecosystem” slide.
4. **Fill the SoftBank gap elsewhere.** Until we add a SoftBank fund profile, research their Miami Initiative / LatAm Fund on primary sources; do not expect a VCT `/fund/` page.
5. **Cross-check portfolio proof.** Pair this hub with [Miami & Florida startups we cover](/miami-florida-startups-we-cover-2026) before claiming a firm “does Miami.”
